"An extraordinary story in which Dykman seamlessly weaves together science, a real love of nature and the adventure and hazards of biking with butterflies from Mexico to Canada and back." —Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute & U.N. Messenger of Peace
Butterbike has also morphed into a research project in Mexico.
Counting Monarchs:
Is the first ever research focused on monarch streaming behavior.
Affords women in Mexico the opportunity to be scientists and thus create an even stronger bond with their monarch neighbors.
Creates a sustainable economy, in which women get paid to be scientists. This cuts down on the need for extractive jobs and creates incentives to protect the monarchs.
Builds a data set that can more accurately track the migration timeline and how climate change is affecting monarch behavior in Mexico.
